As a result of a successful petition by the Save UTAS Campus Inc. steering committee there will be an elector poll which will run concurrently with the upcoming HCC elections in October this year. The purpose of the elector poll is to establish the level of community support for the University of Tasmania's relocation to Hobart's CBD. The result won’t be binding on UTAS or on the HCC but it’s likely to be very influential. It’s not compulsory to vote in the elector poll so please encourage your friends and family to vote.

The Tasmanian Electoral Commission required both parties, Save UTAS Campus Inc. (NO) and UTAS (YES) to prepare a brief statement outlining their case. The Save UTAS Campus 'NO' case is based on research, media reports and evidence from those directly affected by this relocation.

When the time comes to identify candidates to vote for, voters are strongly encouraged to do their own research. To assist in this process, an important source of information is the Meet the Candidates livestream recording where candidates shared their position on this issue (click here).

Save UTAS Campus Inc. surveyed each candidate by email asking them for their position on the UTAS relocation to the CBD. Based on the responses received, a list has been compiled of candidates who have indicated they will be voting 'NO' in the elector poll. (click here).
